Singing Workshop – Voice Culture and Dhrupad

It is an invitation to a unique experience in ancient traditions of Dhrupad singing and the yoga of sound as a means of a vocal expression, fine listening, and healing through sound.
Dhrupad is the most ancient tradition of Indian classical music and is characterized by unique and meditative singing style, free improvisation within the raga framework – the melodic pattern and musical entity of classical Indian music.
What we will teach at the workshop:
First part – introduction and practical methodical Techniques for ‘opening’ the voice and production of sound while observing the body.
Second part– melody and sound, the Indian scale, practical exercises for developing fine musical hearing, voice culture and melodic scale exercises
Third part ‘raga and tala’ – introduction to Indian raga and improvisation on the melodic scale. tala – improvisation on rhythmical cycle set into a fixed traditional composition.
